A Complete Backyard Renovation
LOCATION: Nazareth, Pennsylvania
THE OUTDOOR SPACE:
The backyard is large with a slight pitch away from the house. There is to french doors that sit about 3’ high from the terrain. One door leads to the family room and the other is to the kitchen area; both are highly used accesses. There were, at some point, two decks with a patio in between them. The spaces seemed to be congested. There was no true access or walkway to the garage and driveway area.
THE OUTDOOR LIVING WISH LIST:
Our clients wanted to expand their backyard space to allow for large gathering and entertaining. They wanted everything to feel open and have a comfortable flow to all access areas.
THE PATIO AND LANDSCAPE INSTALLATION:
Our two tier patio consisted of a larger top tier for the dining table, grill, and sofa area, while the bottom tier would be used for a built in fire pit. This two tier patio is about 1,000 sf in total.
We built up planting beds with Delaware River Stone around the entire patio, and along the back and side of the house. We used a combination plants that create movement with the wind, colorful perennials and evergreens.
THE FINISHING TOUCHES:
We added a large stepping stone walkway to lead from the driveway to the patio. We also added Large Steppers to connect the bottom tier of the patio to the rest of the backyard, which about an acre of open lawn
