A Deck and Patio Landscape Design

 

LOCATION:  Forks Township, Pennsylvania

THE OUTDOOR SPACE

This backyard space was all grass when we arrived to check things out.  The backyard faces west and the view contains other residential homes in the community that sit higher up from the property.  Immediately behind their medium-sized lawn is a retention pond that is fenced in.    There is a slight slope in the land from the higher southern part to a lower northern area.

THE BACKYARD WISH LIST:

The Sroka’s were looking to break up the area in two parts and add a landscape planting plan to surround everything.

THE OUTDOOR LIVING DESIGN

Our landscape design plan consisted of a patio and deck near the house so that we can use some of the back end of the yard to add evergreen trees. This would eventually add some privacy from the houses sitting high up but more immediately hide the sights of the retention pond. We designed and installed a Trex Deck large enough for an immediate gathering space.  The deck steps lead down to a custom shaped stamped concrete patio with the area large enough to add a firepit area and comfortable seating all around.

THE FINISHING TOUCHES:

We designed a combination of mulch and Delaware river stone landscape beds around the patio and firepit area.   The beds are hand edged and include a variety of plants that will give seasonal color and be very easy to maintain.
